Chris is an expert barber who took time to perfect a super short flattop. I was visiting Sydney so he’s not my regular barber but I showed him a couple of reference pics and in half an hour he’d expertly crafted a razor shaved horseshoe flattop. He clearly enjoys the precision and craft, and cuts flats pretty regularly. It’s a small two chair shop and at $35 for a flattop with an extra $10 for razor shave it was damn good value too. It’s a short train ride from Sydney (shop is 2 mins walk from the station) and online bookings available. Highly recommend visiting him if you need your flattop tightened up!

Bob is the flattop specialist of SE Queensland, however it's not always easy to get a cut done by him. He does not have a shop, instead he will come to either your home or your business and do the haircut. He brings everything he needs with him except for a chair and electricity, and he cleans up after. His hours vary (and he is generally not free after hours) but he almost always is available on Thursdays. He seems not to be cutting as much as in the past, and it's best to contact him more than a week in advance if you do want a haircut.

If you're a Brisbane local he will actually do your first cut for free, however if you're obviously from overseas or interstate, or your cut is being done in a hotel, he will charge - he seems to charge about $35 for a cut. I've never had a cut take less than 30 minutes, and several have taken almost an hour.

He uses Osters and a free hand technique, and will spend enough time on your cut to get it exactly how you want it. Other cuts are available, but he's certainly a flattop specialist. He is happy to take before and after pics, and will often do this for himself. He is moderately firm but tends to be fairly gentle for a first cut. He will do shaved HnT Flattops and horseshoes, but does not shave with a straight razor.
